Draw-A-Saurus: Everything You Need To Know To Draw Your Favorite Dinosaurs!
In terms of plausible things I thought I would do in my life, writing a book falls somewhere in between “Winning the Nobel Prize in Baking” and “Sprouting wings and flying to Uranus”. But the good peoples at Ten Speed Press, a division of Random House/Crown Publishing, decided to give me 128 pages to teach people to draw anything I wanted. After the first few pitches failed*, it was decided to do a book on how to draw DINOSAURS! (*A book on How To Draw French Salamanders would have sold a MILION! Stupid focus groups.)
My big motivation in writing this book was A) Dinosaurs are awesome and B) I never had seen the kind “how to draw” book I wanted to read. Most art instruction books, especially when it comes to dinosaurs, are all the same. Doing a step by step copy of a static pose. This book will teach the young artist to draw dinosaurs from the inside out. Starting with the simplest stick figures and posing them however the artist wants, the book will instruct how to draw the dinosaur of their dreams in real terms and dimensions. It’s like figure drawing for prehistoric creatures but using what you see around you as your model.
I’ll have more details in the coming months but the book is available for pre-order now for a September 9 release date. It’s available from…

I’m having traditional 2D animation nostalgia feels. Exposure sheets, little timing charts, flipping animation papers…
